Chargers' Joey Bosa: Contract negotiations break off

Contract negotiations between the Chargers and Bosa have broken off after the first-round pick declined the latest offer, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

After reportedly opening up the conversation lines over the weekend, contract talks have broken down after Bosa and his representation declined what was described as the Chargers "best offer". Considering Bosa was dropped from third string to fourth string on the Chargers' latest depth chart, it seems likely the team does not expect their first-round pick to be available come the start of the season. Darius Philon has been taking all of the first-team reps during training camp and is expected to be the starter when the Chargers take on the Chiefs in Week 1.
