Cardinals remove Mathieu from PUP list

Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu will return to practice after being removed from the physically unable to perform list Tuesday, the team announced.

Along with Mathieu, cornerback Justin Bethel and defensive lineman Frostee Rucker were also activated from the PUP list.

Mathieu suffered a torn ACL in December, which caused him to miss the Cardinals' playoff run, having been one of the main contributors to his team's defense prior to the injury.

The two-time All-Pro signed a 5-year extension with the Cardinals in early August and will see time at safety and cornerback this season.

Bethel is expected to start at outside cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson after recovering from offseason foot surgery. Rucker underwent offseason ankle surgery and will likely be used as a depth defensive linemen in his tenth NFL season.
