Steelers' Ladarius Green: James fills in at tight end

With Green (ankle) still on the Steelers' active PUP list, Jesse James is listed first among tight ends on the Steelers' posted depth chart.

Analysis:

While James didn't do much in the Steelers' preseason opener (one catch for four yards), Green's continued absence makes the next man up (James) a name to file away, more so in the wake of recent reports which have introduced the possibility that Green may be dealing with lingering headaches in addition to his recovery from offseason ankle surgery. With that in mind, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review relays that coach Mike Tomlin maintains that Green remains on PUP because of his ankle issue and that the tight end is "rehabbing nice." Regardless of what is more (or less) behind Green's absence, there has been no timetable for his return presented, a reality that has prevented him from moving into his anticipated role of helping fill the void created by the retirement of long-time Steeler Heath Miller.
