Patriots' Julian Edelman: Initial exams suggest injury is not serious

Initial exams suggest that the injury Edelman suffered at practice Tuesday is not believed to be serious, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. ESPN's Mike Reiss previously noted that the wideout's issue "appears to be an injury related to his surgically repaired left foot."

Analysis:

While Rapoport's report is encouraging, Edelman's status should nonetheless be monitored closely in the coming days. At the very least, we suspect that Tuesday's apparent setback could lead to the wideout being limited some in practice and his practice/preseason reps managed carefully. Edelman, who had only returned to practice Sunday after opening training camp on the Patriots' PUP list, broke his foot last season and underwent a second surgery this spring to further address the issue.
