Chancellor compares Seahawks to 2013 Super Bowl-winning team

Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor says this year's team reminds him of the one that dominated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The four-time Pro Bowler established himself as a quiet leader among the Seahawks' vaunted "Legion of Boom" secondary. Ahead of the upcoming season, he said the vibe is eerily similar to how it was before the team captured their lone Super Bowl in franchise history.

"It feels like the (Super Bowl) 48 year," Chancellor said Monday to ESPN's Sheil Kapadia. "It feels like everybody bringing that intensity. Feels like everybody is out to prove something, which it may be or may not be. It just feels that way."

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll agreed with Chancellor's assessment.

"I think there is something going on here that's come over a few years' time," Carroll said. "I think there is a little bit of a frustration that we are not really in control of the things like we would like, and everybody's worked with a mindset of bringing it for this camp right now, for the guys that are sitting across from them, and I really like it."

Last summer, Chancellor was embroiled in a contract holdout that caused him to miss the Seahawks' first two games of the season. After they sputtered to a 0-2 start, he rejoined the team, and they led the NFL in scoring defense for the fourth consecutive season.

Chancellor reflected on the knowledge gained after being absent for the start of last season.

"I learned that this is a new year. I learned that this is a business, this is the NFL. But more importantly, it's about a brotherhood. We started a brotherhood here and you know, we've got to continue what we've started with. That's the most important thing," he said.

"Just getting back to where we left off. We want to get back to being at the top of the division, the conference, and getting that ring again. That's the main focal point. You can't do that unless you focusing on each other."
