Julio Jones confident he can post 2,000-yard season

Julio Jones put up the second-most receiving yards in NFL history last season - and he knows he can top it.

The Atlanta Falcons' star wide receiver finished the year with 1,871 receiving yards, coming short of the 2,000-yard mark by just 129 yards.

If anyone's going to be the first receiver to ever reach the 2,000-yard milestone, Jones knows it can be him.

"I can, but I'm going to do what helps the team win," he said to Vaughn McClure of ESPN. "If that's me getting 2,000 on the way to being a great teammate, let's do it. But if it's not required for me to win games, hey, I'm all about winning."

Jones isn't typically one to toot his own horn, so allow his teammates to do it for him.

"Can he do it? Absolutely he can," said Matt Ryan, the man entrusted with getting the football into Jones' hands.

"Is it a good thing? If we've won 16 games, it's a great thing. Julio will tell you the same thing. If it's going to help us win, hell yeah it's a good thing. It depends on wins. At the end of the day, that's all that's important."

The chances of the Falcons winning 16 games are microscopic. In fact, they'll have a tough time fighting it out with the NFC champion Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South, so Jones' chase for 2,000 just might end up being the highlight of their year.
