Buccaneers' J.R. Sweezy: Feels return to practice is imminent

Sweezy (undisclosed) feels he is close to making a return to the practice field from the active/PUP list, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "I will say that I am close," he said. "Just getting better every day. It's all good. I'm ready to get out there and get the reps. I want to start getting reps and play football again."

Analysis:

One of the Bucs' key offseason acquisitions, Sweezy has yet to practice with his teammates after undergoing what has only been acknowledged as an undisclosed "procedure". While rumors have swirled that his back is the source of the problem, there has been no official confirmation from the team or player. Third-year pro Kevin Pamphile has been working in Sweezy's stead as the first-team left guard throughout the offseason, and the same has held true over the first two practices of training camp.
