49ers' Vance McDonald: Should start this season

McDonald -- who started seven games last season -- is a likely candidate to be one of the 49ers' two starting tight ends this year, according to the Mercury News.

Analysis:

McDonald recorded 281 yards and three touchdowns in the seven games he started after Vernon Davis was traded last season. That was done on a 31st-ranked San Francisco offense in 2015. With a new Chip Kelly offense that utilizes a lot of two-TE sets, McDonald should be in line to see an expanded role in 2016.
