Patriots' Tre' Jackson: Will open camp on PUP

Jackson (knee) is set to open training camp on the Patriots' active/PUP list, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Jackson underwent arthroscopic surgery earlier this offseason after missing three games, in addition to two playoff games, with a knee issue. However, as a rookie fourth-rounder, Jackson played in 13 total games across the 2015 season, starting nine of them. This year, Jackson is slated to do battle with Shaq Mason (undisclosed), the newly-acquired Jonathan Cooper (via Cardinals) and 2016 third-rounder Joe Thuney in a wide-open competition for both jobs at guard.
