Entering his third season in the NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is looking to make a leap to the next level of production.

As advised by his coaches, the 24-year-old sought out advice this offseason from some of the game's most respected quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Carson Palmer.

"I bounced ideas off of them and asked them, 'What would you do differently?'" Bortles told Ryan O'Halloran the Florida Times-Union. "Aaron was awesome. One of the things he said was, ‘Don’t try and score 21 points every time you have the ball.’ That’s what I’ve had to learn."

While Bortles had a successful breakout season last year, notching 35 touchdowns, Rodgers and Palmer have consistently been among the league's best for much longer.

"Carson was good. He’s laid back, and he’s an unbelievable quarterback and leader in the NFL," said Bortles. "He said similar things. He said, 'Just continue to build chemistry and rapport with the guys you’re with.'"

With the rising expectations in Jacksonville, offensive coordinator Greg Olson recommended Bortles seek out advise to better prepare him for next season and the years to come.

"We wanted him to seek the quarterbacks out who have a similar style of play and guys who were at the top of their games," said Olson.
