Report: Brady saved nearly $2M by appealing suspension

Greg M. Cooper / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has accepted his four-game suspension, but it won't cost him nearly as much as it would have last season.

After being granted a stay for the 2015 season, Brady renegotiated his contract so that he would save nearly $2 million while serving his four-game ban this year.

He will now lose $235,294 as opposed to the $2.12 million it would've cost him had he not appealed, Eric Macramalla of TSN.ca reports.

Brady has authorized the NFLPA to appeal the decision to the supreme court despite his personal acceptance of the ban.

Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to replace Brady as the Patriots' starting quarterback unless the franchise decides to sign a veteran option to fill in.
