Indianapolis Colts running back Robert Turbin has been charged with one count of possession or use of a controlled substance on Tuesday, after police found marijuana in his car during a traffic stop in Logan, Utah.

Police captain Curtis Hooley said an officer found marijuana in Turbin's vehicle after initially pulling the running back over for going through a stop sign.

"The officer made a traffic stop and make contact with the driver, who was Robert Turbin," Hooley said, according to Will Feelright of the Cache Valley Daily. "Upon contact, the officer immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. As the process moved forward, Mr. Turbin was very cooperative with the officers. There was located inside the vehicle, in the center console by the driver, a marijuana cigarette, commonly referred to as a joint."

Turbin was in Logan hosting a youth camp. The misdemeanor is punishable by up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine.

If the NFL also looks to punish Turbin, it could be a big blow to a Colts backfield that is already lacking in depth.
