Rams' Gurley: 'Couldn't ask for a better QB' than Goff

Jared Goff is already earning praise from the star running back at his side in Los Angeles.

Making an appearance on NFL Network on Friday, Todd Gurley spoke glowingly of the quarterback the Rams traded up to select No. 1 overall in this year's draft.

"Great kid. Couldn't ask for a better QB," Gurley said. "We are just excited to have him (here). He's definitely learning. He's getting better. Just excited to play the upcoming season with him."

The Rams haven't yet committed to Goff as their starter heading into the fall, but continuing to impress in training camp and preseason action should make him the heavy favorite for that role.

Los Angeles will hope that a young backfield combination of Goff and Gurley can lead the offense back from a nine-year stretch in which it ranked no higher than 23rd in total yards.

Gurley, of course, was quick to flash dominance upon return from injury as a rookie in 2015. As Goff makes the jump to the NFL following a highly productive college career at Cal, capped off with a 4,714-yard, 43-touchdown junior season, there's certainly reason for optimism.
