All indications are that the Denver Broncos and Von Miller still have a considerable amount of work to do in hammering out a long-term deal.

As the July 15 deadline to negotiate with franchise-tagged players fast approaches, though, the two sides are reportedly in constant communication.

Denver has exchanged multiple contract proposals with Miller's representation over the last few days, reports Rand Getlin of NFL Network.

While Getlin qualified his report by stating that there's still a significant gap in negotiations, and particularly as they relate to guarantees and overall contract structure, the late push is a positive sign for the status of the ongoing talks.

Barring a preference to sit out the entire year, the absence of a long-term deal would mean that Miller plays the 2016 season under his $14.129-million franchise tag.

Reports from last month indicated that the Broncos and their star pass-rusher were at an impasse over guarantees involved in the first few years of a new contract.

The team has seemingly now softened its stance on only guaranteeing the first two years, however, as ESPN's Ed Werder reported Friday that Denver is now willing to guarantee a third year earlier than in past offers.

Miller, of course, finds himself negotiating from a position of power. The former first-round pick is coming off a highly productive 2015 season, in which his playoff dominance helped lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl 50 title.
