The Atlanta Falcons demanded $199.5 million worth of changes to Mercedes-Benz Stadium from the venue's general contractor, according to a report from a state agency obtained by Tim Tucker of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is slated to be completed by June 2017, by Falcons owner Arthur Blank's estimation.

The Falcons will foot the bill for the increased budget, as they are responsible for all construction cost overruns per terms of the stadium deal.

The additional money is necessary for steel fabrication, according to the team.

"As the complex steel structure of the roof and facade continue to come together, the added costs come from steel fabrication and as a result increases in the steel erection process," a Falcons spokeswoman said in a statement obtained by Tucker.

The Falcons have played at the Georgia Dome since 1992.
