Redskins appoint NFL's 1st female head doctor

The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday the hiring of Dr. Robin West, becoming the first team to employ a woman as director of sports medicine.

West serves in the same role for the Washington Nationals and was previously a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers' medical staff.

Famed surgeon Dr. James Andrews will remain on the Redskins' staff as a consultant.
