Bears' Pernell McPhee: Absent from Bears' Minicamp

McPhee (knee) will miss this week's minicamp, and head coach John Fox was noncommittal as to whether he'll be ready for training camp in July, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

McPhee had arthroscopic surgery on his knee shortly after the 2015 season and was not expected to be at full speed until training camp, so this isn't shocking news. However, having the outside linebacker at full strength for the regular season will be vital to the Bears' pass rush, as McPhee recorded five sacks in the first seven games of 2015 before being slowed down by the knee injury.
