Roethlisberger wants Steelers to try 2-point conversion after all TDs

If Ben Roethlisberger gets his wish, the Pittsburgh Steelers will do away with the point-after attempt this fall.

Speaking with reporters ahead of Tuesday's minicamp practice, the veteran quarterback indicated he wants the offense to go for two after every touchdown this year.

"Why not?" Roethlisberger said, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. "Put it in our hands. I want the ball. Any player would relish that opportunity."

Last season marked the first year the NFL moved the extra point back to the 15-yard line. The Steelers responded by opting to go for and converting on more two-point tries than any other team in the regular season.

Given the team's struggles in the kicking game, as well as the benefit of a high-powered offense with Roethlisberger at the helm, perhaps a dedicated approach throughout the season would pay dividends.

After all, the Steelers would have to convert on just 50 percent of two-point tries to match the maximum point total attainable on kicks. The explosive offense even approaching last season's success rate (8-of-11) would exceed that mark by a wide margin.
