Johnny Manziel's attorney said that his client is preparing for the 2016 season, even though he went unclaimed after being unceremoniously released by the Cleveland Browns.

Manziel is in the midst of a tumultuous summer, after being charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly rupturing his ex-girlfriend's eardrum. The former Heisman Trophy winner was released by two prominent agents, Erik Burkhardt and Drew Rosenhaus, in the span of months, and he's being sued for severely damaging a rental home.

The 23-year-old was spotted at nightclubs on numerous occasions and he hasn't been pursued since being cut by the Browns. Nonetheless, Manziel's lawyer says his client will prepare for the upcoming season.

"His immediate plans are to start getting ready for football," Manziel's attorney Jim Darnell said to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "We're working on it."

Various family members and friends expressed concern about Manziel's penchant for partying, to little avail.
