Chiefs' Jamaal Charles: Makes first practice appearance

Charles (knee) made his first appearance at offseason practices Wednesday, the Kansas City Star reports.

Analysis:

Charles didn't wear a helmet and may have just been an observer, as head coach Andy Reid said last week that the star running back isn't expected to practice any earlier than the start of training camp. Reid did also say that Charles will be a limited participant for parts of OTAs, so it's possible he got some work in at Wednesday's session. Bouncing back from a torn ACL, Charles seems to be on track for Week 1, but his progress will be one of the key stories to monitor throughout training camp and the preseason.
