Report: Jets-Fitzpatrick stalemate no closer to ending

Despite some rumors that the New York Jets and free-agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick could soon end their contract stalemate, the two sides are no closer to a deal, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Both the Jets and Fitzpatrick seem to be negotiating through the media.

First, there was a report (almost certainly leaked by the Jets) that the team has a three-year deal worth $24-million on the table for Fitzpatrick.

That was followed by a report (almost certainly leaked by Fitzpatrick's camp) that Fitzpatrick would accept less money to play elsewhere just to spite the Jets.

It's unclear what the source of Schefter's latest report is.

A reunion between the Jets and their starting quarterback last season still appears inevitable, as neither side has any real options outside of each other, but it looks like it could still be a while before pen hits paper.
