The Detroit Lions placed tight end Tim Wright on injured reserve with a torn ACL on Tuesday.

After Wright passed through waivers last week, the Lions had no choice but to shelve the veteran tight end acquired in 2015 for kicker Kyle Brindza.

Wright played in nine games for the Lions in 2015, catching nine passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns. The career red-zone threat will likely be released with an injury settlement at some point.
