Dolphins' Albert unconcerned with job security despite Tunsil pick

When a highly regarded prospect is taken high in the first round at your position, it's understandable for a veteran player to feel threatened.

However, Miami Dolphins left tackle Branden Albert is unconcerned with his standing after his team took Laremy Tunsil - widely regarded as the top offensive lineman prospect in recent years - with the 13th-overall pick in this year's draft.

"I'm the left tackle of this team," Albert said when asked by reporters Friday what his response was to being informed of the Tunsil pick. "I wasn't worried about anything. But I'm trying to bring him on as best as we can."

Following a draft-day slide caused by a leaked bong-hit video, the selection of Tunsil appears to be motivated by his value at that spot, rather than as a statement about Albert's play.

While Tunsil is surely the Dolphins' blindside-protector of the future, he'll reportedly start his career at guard. Albert's position appears secure after he was one of the top performers on a disappointing Dolphins team in 2015.

Albert was selected to the second Pro Bowl of his career last season, and although he was happy with the personal achievement, he'd rather be enjoying team success.

"It was gratifying but I'd rather get wins," Albert said.

The Dolphins' offensive line - and Albert especially - have dealt with a series of injuries in recent years. However, the 31-year-old said he feels the healthiest he has in a long time, and that Miami could filed a top unit if they're able to avoid injuries.

"That's been the key issue, all of us staying healthy at the same time," Albert said.
