Mariota adds weight, hopes to retain speed

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota says he reported to OTAs weighing 225 pounds - 15 pounds heavier than his rookie weight.

One of the few knocks against Mariota coming out of Oregon was his slender frame, so this is likely an attempt to overcome that supposed flaw.

Mariota battled a knee injury as a rookie, but there's no indication it had anything to do with his weight.

Nonetheless, he told reporters he hopes the added bulk will help him become more durable.

He also said he hopes it doesn't cost him any speed. Though the Titans limited Mariota's runs in his rookie year, he flashed game-breaking speed on an 87-year touchdown run in Week 13.
