Raiders' Carr thinks Khalil Mack could get 30 sacks in 2016

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is relieved that he doesn't have to square off against All-Pro linebacker Khalil Mack.

Mack's developed into one of the premier edge-rushers in the NFL since being selected fifth overall by the Raiders in 2014. The 25-year-old was named a first-team All-Pro last season, and Carr believes Mack could shatter the single-season sack record.

"20 sacks for Khalil is easily attainable ... He could have 30 if he just didn't get held all the time," Carr said to Adam Schein on SiriusXM Radio. "I'm not kidding you. I go back and watch him, because me and him are close, close friends. So I go back and watch him and those things I'm not kidding you, this guy gets held more than anything I've ever seen in my life.

Mack is rapidly improving after two professional seasons, a terrifying proposition for opposing quarterbacks. Former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan set the single-season record with 22.5 in 2001, a record that Mack will almost certainly be gunning for.

"If you want to create a player and play with him on Madden, Khalil Mack is the player you're creating. That's the defensive end (you) want," Carr said of his teammate.

Coming off a 15-sack performance in his second year, it would seem unwise to bet against the burgeoning Raiders star.
