Buccaneers' Adam Humphries: Will have vy for third receiver spot this summer

Humphries is one of several candidates expected to compete for the Bucs' third receiver job in training camp, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Analysis:

The Clemson product was a pleasant surprise last season, playing the third-down possession receiver role with great efficacy. Humphries finished his rookie campaign with 27 receptions for 260 yards and a touchdown, solid numbers from an undrafted free agent whose road to a roster spot began with a minicamp tryout last spring. A late October signee from the practice squad following veteran Louis Murphy's season-ending knee injury gave the 22-year-old Humphries an opportunity to get on the field, and he responded by securing at least one reception in nine of the last 10 games. While Humphries is somewhat slight of frame at only 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, his route-running savvy played a part in 18 of his receptions in 2015 resulting in first downs.
