Buccaneers' Louis Murphy: Faces competition for third receiver job this summer

Murphy faces competition from multiple players for the third receiver spot in 2016, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Analysis:

The veteran wideout will enter his eighth season with a host of young hopefuls vying for his third receiver role. Murphy hauled in 10 receptions for 198 yards in 2015-- good for a career-high 19.8 yards per catch-- before a torn ACL ended his campaign in Week 6. He displayed some chemistry downfield with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, recording receptions of 33 and 54 yards. With the Bucs reportedly looking to have their third pass-catcher also play on the outside from time to time in 2016, players like sophomores Donteaa Dye, Evan Spencer, and Kenny Bell could all make strong bids for the job with their speed. Meanwhile, Murphy is expected to be back on the field by training camp, giving him an opportunity to defend his position against the array of candidates.
