Report: Sproles sitting out OTAs after Eagles received trade interest

There may be yet another move for the Philadelphia Eagles to make in distancing themselves from the Chip Kelly era.

Veteran running back Darren Sproles is currently away from team workouts after Philadelphia received calls of trade interest during the draft, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It's unclear whether meaningful talks took place at the draft or in the few weeks since, but Sproles' absence being linked to trade inquiries would appear to suggest that the team is indeed open to moving him.

Head coach Doug Pederson responded to the report following Tuesday's practice, telling reporters that he expects Sproles to be in attendance for the team's mandatory camp.

An offseason trade sending DeMarco Murray to the Tennessee Titans tentatively leaves the 32-year-old as the primary backup to Ryan Mathews heading into camp.

Any trade would likely have to land the Eagles at least some sort of draft-pick compensation, as his departure would immediately push fifth-round pick Wendell Smallwood into a backup role.
