Titans' Murray advises Ezekiel Elliott to learn from Witten

Entering his 14th season, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten should add his mentorship role to his loaded resume.

DeMarco Murray, who spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys, advised rookie Ezekiel Elliott to spend all his time listening to the veteran tight end. Elliott, selected fourth overall, is widely expected to become the future anchor of the Cowboys' offense.

"Everything and everywhere he goes, be there by his side watching and listening. He will show him the way on and off the field," Murray said of Witten to ESPN's Ed Werder.

Witten said that Elliott made a good first impression on him.

"With Zeke, we’ve had a good couple of conversations," Witten said to ESPN's Todd Archer. "I think we'll see how this relationship goes. Obviously there’s high expectations, but I've been impressed."

Elliott is eager to please his new teammates and Witten said the 2016 first-round pick showed initiative while receiving feedback from the elder statesman.

"He wanted to kind of be shown the way, but he also pushed me along the way,” Witten said. "He wasn't afraid to work. He wasn't afraid to come along. When people talk about shared commitment, that's what it means."
