Browns' Robert Griffin: Competing to start

Griffin is a candidate to win the Browns' starting quarterback position, but head coach Hue Jackson says "it's too soon" to name the team's starter at this point, Cleveland.com reports.

Analysis:

Griffin was brought to Cleveland this offseason on a two-year deal, despite being demoted to the Redskins' third-string option and taking zero regular season snaps last year. However, given the Browns' dire need for a quarterback, Griffin is thought to have an early lead on rookie third-rounder Cody Kessler and veteran Josh McCown in Cleveland's upcoming competition for the starting job. Although Jackson says he doesn't have a timeline to name a starter, the Browns' OTAs and training camp are expected to help sort out the position, giving Griffin a chance to revive his career by impressing his new coach.
