The Chicago Bears know their practice fields need work.

After former safety Antrel Rolle recently blamed the Bears' poor playing surfaces for his season-ending knee injury in November, head coach John Fox said Saturday that his team is working to improve their facilities.

"We're trying to get better at everything, including our fields," Fox said, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN. "I think they are in a lot better shape this time of the year than they were a year ago. Anytime you come in and try to create a winning culture, the list is long and we're trying to improve in all areas."

Fox pointed to the harsh weather conditions the fields have been subjected to as a reason for their poor state.

"We re-sodded and did quite a bit of stuff," Fox said. "Our guys are working very hard to make it better. I think it was pretty worn down. It was a pretty brutal winter the year before, so we had some catch to do. Obviously the warm weather, when it does hit, is helpful."
