The Detroit Lions acquired linebacker Jon Bostic from the New England Patriots on Monday for a conditional draft pick, the team announced.

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the conditional pick is a seventh-rounder.

Bostic was a 2013 second-round pick of the Chicago Bears, but was traded to the Patriots in September of 2015 for a sixth-round pick.

In 40 games, he's tallied 142 tackles, one sack, and one interception. His best season came in 2014, when he racked up 83 tackles over 13 games.

The Lions are fairly thin at middle linebacker, with the team likely to move on from Stephen Tulloch as the starter. Bostic will likely compete with Kyle Van Noy and Josh Bynes for the starting job.
