Falcons deciding whether to sign Leon Hall

The Atlanta Falcons are weighing the possibility of a potentially significant move in upgrading the defensive backfield.

Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Monday he'll soon meet with general manager Thomas Dimitroff and team doctors to decide whether the Falcons will sign veteran cornerback Leon Hall, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

Hall, who hit the free-agent market after nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, is thought to have offers from several different teams. Any questions about his health likely stem from the back surgery he reportedly underwent at the end of the 2015 season.

At this stage in his career, the 31-year-old's greatest value comes with his ability to cover in the slot. He'd either challenge for a starting spot opposite Desmond Trufant or contribute solely in nickel packages if he signs on in Atlanta.

Hall will enter his 10th NFL season having started in 105 of his 121 career appearances, racking up 26 interceptions and 112 passes defensed.
