Panthers' Kawann Short: Begins extension talks

Short and the Panthers have begun talks around a contract extension, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Analysis:

Short is currently entering the final year of his rookie contract and is destined for a significant payday considering his huge strides since being selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Last season, he emerged as a Pro Bowl-caliber defensive tackle, registering 55 tackles, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. With cornerback Josh Norman out of the picture, the Panthers have far more financial flexibility to consider while negotiating a much-deserved extension with Short.
