Browns' Jackson feels Kessler is as accurate 'as anybody in this draft'

The Cleveland Browns opted to wait on a quarterback and traded out of the No. 2 overall pick, and it now appears clear why.

Cleveland ended up taking quarterback Cody Kessler out of USC in the third round, 93rd overall, and head coach Hue Jackson could hardly contain his excitement afterwards.

"He does that as well as anybody in this draft," Jackson said when asked about Kessler's accuracy.

That's high praise considering fellow pivots Jared Goff and Carson Wentz went first and second overall respectively. Kessler didn't receive a ton of pre-draft buzz, but it's clear Jackson feels he can get the most out of his new signal caller.

"You've got to trust me on this one," Jackson added. "This is a guy we feel very comfortable with."

Jackson also noted that Kessler played in four different systems with the Trojans, likely meaning he's confident his new quarterback will be able to pick up the Browns' playbook while competing with Robert Griffin III for the starting quarterback job.

The 50-year-old Jackson has been praised for his work with another somewhat unheralded quarterback prospect, Andy Dalton. If Jackson can help Kessler do for the Browns what Dalton's done for the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland fans will be very pleased.
