Patriots select guard Joe Thuney in 3rd round

The New England Patriots selected guard Joe Thuney out of NC State at No. 78 overall in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft on Friday.

Thuney started three years during his collegiate career and is expected to compete for a spot in the starting lineup, with the versatility to play either tackle or guard.

In his final year, Thuney was named a first-team All-ACC selection.
