49ers' Baalke: Kaepernick trade could happen this week

Colin Kaepernick's days as a member of the San Francisco 49ers could be numbered, general manager Trent Baalke admits.

Baalke told ESPN's Bob Holtzman it's possible Kaepernick will be dealt this week, Holtzman's colleague Adam Schefter passes along.

The 49ers have maintained they want Kaepernick back in the Bay Area next season, despite widespread reports that the team has engaged in trade talks with the Denver Broncos and may have the framework for a deal in place.

Trading Kaepernick during the draft, which begins Thursday night, makes the most sense for the 49ers - especially if they prefer to part ways with him only after securing a quarterback of the future in the draft.
