Report: NFL asked Rams to keep No. 1 pick a secret

The Los Angeles Rams went on the clock the moment they traded for the first overall pick in this week's NFL draft, but they have yet to let on whom they choose to select.

That could be because they have been asked to keep quiet.

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Rams were told by the league not to disclose their choice, in hopes of maintaining the drama leading up to Thursday's first round.

The Rams are expected by most to take local product Jared Goff of Cal, and his father Jerry admitted to Farmer that "he has a pretty good idea" of where his son is headed.

With both the Rams and Philadelphia Eagles trading up to the first and second slots in the draft, it appears Goff and Carson Wentz will be the first two names called.

Last year's draft also featured two quarterbacks at the top of the first round, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking Jameis Winston and the Tennessee Titans drafting Marcus Mariota. While neither pick was disclosed prior to the draft in that case, the picks went as most people expected.

It seems the same situation is poised to happen this season, just don't expect the Rams to tip their hand prior to Thursday.
