Rams' Gurley thrilled to play in L.A., unsure of team's draft plans

Todd Gurley emerged as one of the NFL's marquee running backs in his rookie season. Under the bright Hollywood lights, it's not a stretch to envision Gurley as the premier sporting attraction in town next fall.

The Rams relocated from St. Louis to Los Angeles for the upcoming 2016 season, and the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year is more than intrigued by the move.

"It was pretty cool. It was weird the idea of taking a franchise and moving it from the Midwest to the West Coast, probably more weird for the guys who have been here four or five years than for me," Gurley said to Sports Illustrated's Melissa Jacobs. "But it's very exciting. I can't wait to get used to this new environment. I only spent six or seven months in St. Louis but it was definitely fun and I'll always remember that time."

With the draft rapidly approaching, the Rams took the NFL by storm when they completed a trade for the first overall pick with the Tennessee Titans. The Rams are widely expected to select a quarterback - namely Carson Wentz or Jared Goff - with the first selection, but Gurley isn't certain that's the case.

"I don't know. We'll have to find out. You never know, we might take a D tackle, or O lineman, a receiver, it's not definitely going to be a quarterback."

Asked which celebrity he'd like to see become a Rams fan now that the franchise has relocated, Gurley named a recently retired area legend.

"I guess I'd like to see Kobe Bryant get some season tickets. Make sure you tweet that out to him."
