Bears trade up for LB Nick Kwiatkoski in 4th round

The Chicago Bears have selected linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski out of West Virginia in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Bears acquired the pick from the Los Angeles Rams, giving up the 117th and 206th overall selections.

Kwiatkoski is the latest move the Bears have made this offseason to upgrade their inside linebacker group, following the signings of free-agent linebackers Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman.

Strengths

  • Highly productive in college (275 total tackles in three seasons).

Weaknesses

  • Lacks the power to consistently work through blocks.

  • Average sideline-to-sideline speed and burst means he can struggled to adjust in run defense.
