Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown is doing his best to eliminate distractions with the draft rapidly approaching.

McCown started eight games for the Browns last season, but could be losing his position soon. Cleveland signed fellow quarterback Robert Griffin III to a two-year, $15-million contract, and he's expected to compete against McCown for the starting job.

The Browns also hold the second overall pick in this month's draft and are widely expected to use that pick on another quarterback. Nonetheless, McCown is unperturbed.

"I understand the situation can change. If there's a QB added, there may be some changes made," McCown said, according Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

McCown seemed impressed by Griffin to date, echoing statements from tight end Gary Barnidge and offensive lineman Joel Bitonio earlier Wednesday.

"A good young guy who's eager to learn. Want to help him," McCown said of Griffin.

At 36, McCown seems relatively at peace with his stature in the NFL and is focusing solely on the task at hand.

"For me, it's just come in and compete. They'll make the decisions regarding the roster.''
