Minnesota's Kevin Dorsey to transfer out of program

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Dorsey's career with Minnesota is over after just one season, as the freshman guard will transfer out of the program.

The former four-star recruit scored 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in his debut campaign, despite only playing 18 minutes per contest. The Golden Gophers suffered through an atrocious 8-23 season, which ended in particularly embarrassing fashion for Dorsey.

Dorsey, along with Dupree McBrayer and Nate Mason, was suspended for the final four games of the regular season after a sex video appeared on his social media account. All three players were reinstated, but it appears Dorsey has decided to continue his playing career elsewhere.

As per NCAA transfer regulations, he will be ineligible until the 2017-18 season and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Despite the suspension, Dorsey's solid first season and high ceiling should make him an attractive candidate for a number of programs.
