Report: Broncos want 49ers to pay $4.9M of Kaepernick's salary
The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers have agreed to the parameters of a trade involving Colin Kaepernick, but the deal is being held up by a dispute over who should pay the quarterback's salary, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The Broncos are willing to pay only $7 million of Kaepernick's $11.9-million guaranteed salary for the upcoming season, a source told ESPN.
Both the Broncos and Kaepernick reportedly want the 49ers to pay the remaining $4.9 million, but so far the 49ers have balked at the idea.
The Broncos have also reportedly asked Kaepernick to rework his contract and lower his salary, but he's been unwilling to take a pay cut.
A source suggested to ESPN the trade will be completed as soon as the salary issues are resolved, as the Broncos and 49ers have already agreed to the mid-round draft pick compensation involved in the trade.
