The Florida Panthers' offense is about to take a serious hit down the stretch.

Vincent Trocheck will miss the final six games of the regular season with an apparent ankle injury, head coach Gerard Gallant confirmed Wednesday.

The 22-year-old was spotted wearing a cast at practice Wednesday, and he's expected to wear it for 10 days, according to The Miami Herald's George Richards.

He may have suffered a non-displaced fracture of the ankle blocking a shot in the Panthers' 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night, according to the report.

The Panthers hope he'll be ready to return for the start of the playoffs in mid-April.

Trocheck is tied for the team lead with 25 goals and ranks third with 53 points. He appeared in all of the Panthers' 76 games.
