Report: Watford eyeing summer move for Liverpool's Allen, Ibe

With Premier League football all but secured for a second season on the bounce, Watford has begun looking for ways to bolster its ranks, with reports suggesting the club could be in for a Liverpool double swoop.

Looking to capitalise on grievances at Anfield concerning playing time, or lack thereof, the Hornets will make an offer for Liverpool duo Joe Allen and Jordon Ibe, according to Andy Hunter of The Guardian.

Sitting on 37 points, 11 clear of the relegation zone, Quique Sanchez Flores has led the club on London's periphery to unexpected heights courtesy of the exploits of attack duo Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.

Paired with the successes of the club's pairing of Deeney and Ighalo has been the harsh reality that the club lacks top-flight players in several other areas, prompting interest in Allen and Ibe.

With only 10 league starts under Jurgen Klopp, and with a contract that expires at the end of the season, Allen appears poised for a move out of Merseyside, with Watford desperate for some midfield creativity.

Like Allen, Ibe has been on the fringes of Liverpool's first team all season, making 21 league appearances for the Reds, but only eight as a starter. A once promising development for the 20-year-old London-born winger has stalled under Klopp, hinting that a move could be precisely what the England Under-21 player needs to kick-start his young career.

Watford travels to Anfield on May 7 to face Liverpool in the third from last fixture of the season.
