VIDEO: Gregg Popovich expresses fondness for Craig Sager
Gregg Popovich and the media have always had a unique relationship, but no one could deny his soft spot for sideline reporter Craig Sager.
Sager, who has been fighting leukemia since 2014, Sager announced during HBO's "Real Sports" that he was no longer in remission, with doctors saying that the typical prognosis is three-to-six months to live.
In light of the terrible news, the San Antonio Spurs coach chatted with HBO about his affection for the beloved Sager.
"He's just been such a genuine person who really does love the NBA and he loves the game," Popovich explained. "And it comes through, and you know that, even though he does what he does design and fashion wise."
"His questions are always sensible, they're answerable, and he does it with fun. He does it with humor. And I react to that very positively so we have a good time together."
