Report: Dolphins searching for running back on trade market
The Miami Dolphins have had talks with multiple teams about acquiring a running back via trade, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
The Dolphins lost running back Lamar Miller in free agency and saw their offer to Denver Broncos restricted free agent tailback C.J. Anderson get matched.
The Dolphins also reportedly made an offer to Chris Johnson, but he chose to re-sign with the Arizona Cardinals.
That leaves the Dolphins with sophomore Jay Ajayi, a fifth-round pick a year ago, atop the depth chart.
It's clear the Dolphins aren't content to enter the season without adding depth.
Head coach Adam Gase confirmed the Dolphins are exploring the trade market to bolster their rushing committee.
"The reason we were trying to do that is we're looking to having more than one guy," Gase said. "Jay is going to be a big part of what we're doing. I'd like to have multiple backs. Right now, we don't have a lot of guys on the roster. I think we only have three guys on the roster right now. We're going to need to really develop that stable of backs."
