Suter sets Wild record for points in a season by a defenseman

Ryan Suter's having a career season.

The Minnesota Wild workhorse registered an assist Tuesday, giving him 47 points on the season, and the franchise record for points by a defenseman.

Suter has eight goals, and his 39 assists tie a career high he set in 2011-12 as a member of the Nashville Predators. His 47 points are one better than his former personal best of 46, which also came in 2011-12.

The 31-year-old went into Tuesday's game averaging 28:46 in ice time, and played a game-high 30:11 in his team's big 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
