Out of work and chomping at the bit, former Chelsea gaffer Jose Mourinho has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United that features a rather lucrative clause.

Targeting the Red Devils as his next gig since getting sacked by the Blues in December, the Portuguese boss has forged a commitment with United that will pay him £15 million in compensation if he is not appointed by June 1, according to the Guardian's Ed Aarons.

The report stems from a Spanish newspaper article which concedes that Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, and his company, Gestifute, have confirmed that the former Real Madrid gaffer has already signed an agreement with the Premier League giants.

"If United do not sign the final contract (with Mourinho) before May 1st, they must pay £5 million; If by June 1st he's still not signed, they shall pay another £10 million," reads a report from Spanish paper El Pais.

An unusual concession in the footballing world, the agreement is in place as several members of the United hierarchy, namely former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and club legend Sir Bobby Charlton are both reportedly hesitant about the hiring of the mercurial gaffer.
