The beleaguered Montreal Canadiens are down another body, having lost defenseman Nathan Beaulieu for the remainder of the year with a broken thumb.
Beaulieu blocked an attempted pass off the blade of Steven Stamkos inside his right glove late in the first period, and didn't return.
He finishes the season with a career-best 19 points accrued in 64 games.
Brett Lernout, a defenseman drafted in the third round in 2014, is expected to be recalled.
